Choć zespół R.A.P. przestał istnieć ćwierć wieku temu, to jego legenda wciąż żyje. Na rynku co rusz pojawiają się kolejne wydawnictwa związane z jego historią. 12 sierpnia mamy zaszczyt gościć w Ostródzie ze swoim sound systemowym setem Szafira – jeden z głosów wokalnego trio, będącego podstawą charakterystycznego brzmienia zespołu.

Jack Sapphire aka Jacek Szafir to założyciel i pomysłodawca, współautor muzyki i tekstów R.A.P. - jednej z prekursorskich polskich grup reggae, działającej w Gliwicach w latach 1985 – 1987. Wcześniej był wokalistą mieszającej nową falę, reggae i punka Śmierci Klinicznej. W 1986 roku wyemigrował na stałe do Niemiec, gdzie zajął się zawodowo medycyną i pracuje jako chirurg. Nie odpuścił sobie jednak reggae. Udziela się w formacji Addis Reggae z Frankfurtu nad Menem grającej roots reggae i standardy Marley’a. Jest również selektorem Dread Lion Sound System prezentującego roots & culture inna rub-a-dub stylee. Będzie to jego pierwszy oficjalny występ w Polsce od pamiętnego ostatniego koncertu z R.A.P. w listopadzie 1986 w katowickim „Spodku”.

Even through R.A.P. band split up 25 years ago, their legend lives on. There are still another archives of their short history being released in the Polish music market. On 12th August on our sound system stage we will be honoured to host Szafir – one of the voices of the legendary trio, the basis of the band’s unique sound.

Jack Sapphire aka Jacek Szafir is the creator, composer and lyrics co-writer of R.A.P. – one of the pioneer Polish reggae groups, active in Gliwice, Silesia between 1985 – 1987. Before he was a singer for Śmierć Kliniczna, a band mixing new wave, punk and reggae music.
In 1986 he emigrated to Germany, where he studied medicine and works as a surgeon. But he did not give up reggae. Szafir participates in Addis Reggae, the band from Frankfurt playing roots reggae and Marley’s classics. He is also a selector for Dread Lion Sound System offering roots & culture inna rub-a-dub stylee. It will be his first official performance since memorable last show with R.A.P. in November 1986 in Katowice’s “Spodek” Hall.
